Kenneth Donald "Andy" Anderson passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving family on January 31st, 2017. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 8th 2017 at the Central Iowa Expo Administration Building, located off of exit 137 (Highway 17 exit) on Highway 30 in Boone, Iowa at 10:30am.

Ken was born September 30th, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Graduated in 1968 and worked over 40 years in the Hospitality Industry for Ackerman Investments managing at both the Fort Dodge Starlite Village and the Ames Quality Inn & suites. In September of 2011 he retired, only to take another job as consultant for the Central Iowa Expo Site in Boone where he proudly worked with many wonderful people and organized Farm Progress Shows and various agricultural events.

Ken had several hobbies and was always looking for his next adventure. He enjoyed spending his time as a pit master, barbecuing and creating recipes for his catering business, Andy's Barbecue LLC. He traveled the competition barbecue circuit for several years, and won many awards for his delicious creations. He was one of four certified Whole Hog Roaster's in the country, catering many events, including the Joni Ernst Roast and Ride. He was a creator and inventor of many things, including custom designed meat smokers for Andy's Drum Corp. LLC. Always a people person, he loved to be involved. He was past President of the Ames Convention and Visitor's Bureau, as well as a member of the Board of Governor's Chairmen's Circle Investment Club and a member of the Iowa Barbecue Society.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, best friend and partner, Catherine, daughters Makenna Anderson (Mark Browning) of Newton, Julie (Ernie) Hiracheta and Jody (Pat) Canavan, all of Fort Dodge. His mother, Polly Moyer, Hibbing, MN. Siblings: Linda Ellinger, Steven Anderson, and Nancy Francis, sister-in-law Michelle (Bill) Dowd, brother-in-law Mike Rogers, and mother-and father-in-law Don and Dorothy Rogers. Many beautiful grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Kenneth R. Anderson, his favorite uncle Donald, brother-in-law Jim Ellinger and grand-parents Ulric and Clara Volf. Ken would want to acknowledge the love he shared with his dear Pelon, Shawnita, and "Grandpa" of Boone. And of course, his partners in crime, Lucy, Lucas & Asher.

Ken was a simple man who lived life to the fullest everyday and always found the best in everyone. He will be deeply missed. He believed that what goes around comes around, and as he always said, "Wherever you go, there you are."

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of his family to be donated to the Animal Rescue League of their choice.
