Frank S. Carlsen, age 83, of Ames, Iowa died at Israel Family Hospice House on Sept, 1, 2016. A private graveside funeral service was held at Oakhill Cemetery rural Bristow, Iowa.
Frank Carlsen was born March 23, 1933 on a farm in rural Butler County. He graduated from Greene High School and then joined the US Air Force. He graduated from Arizona State in 1956 with a degree in Physics. He married Barbara McCall in Boone, Iowa at the Baptist Church. The couple had a son Frank and he preceded him in death. Frank was a computer programmer and system analyst for the Department of Energy at the Ames Lab from 1962 until he retired in 1991.
Frank will be missed by his wife Barbara of Ames.
