She enjoyed being a tour guide and speaker for many quilt groups in Iowa. She was a longtime retailer at J.C. Penney in the home decorating and fabric departments. Pat was an active member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames, where she was an elder and trustee, an active member of many committees, and a longtime co-chair of the rummage committee. Many people depended on Pat for encouragement, quiet counsel, and support.
Pat is survived by her husband Richard, daughters Carol (Jim) Liechty of Winterset, Catherine Barks of Urbandale, and Ginny (George) McKeever of Des Moines, grandchildren David, Chris, Dan, Eric, and Laura, two great-grandchildren, sister Virginia (Howard) Harbison of Longmont, CO, and several nieces and nephews. CandleDick, Ginny and families, so sorry for your loss. My favorite memory of Pat is when we lived across the street and showed me how to make a successful pie crust. I've been thankful ever since! She will be missed.

CandlePat's family,

What a beutiful photo of such a beautiful woman.

I took sewing lessons from Pat and saw her at many places she worked over the decades here in Ames.

I remember a STYLE show of what we'd made at her home in w. Ames.

Pat always had a smile on her face, had so much patience with us learning how to sew, and a fun person to be around.

I believe I recently saw her in Ames at Flame/Skewer at the mall eating supper 1 night.

RIP Pat.

CandleWe always enjoyed coming to clean for her. We enjoyed her showing us the quilts and other projects she was working on. We will miss her.
