Dennis "Denny" Jon Ellingson, age 76, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of the Ames area, passed away Sunday July 26 in Quincy. A gathering of friends and family will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames. Burial will take place at Gilbert Cemetery.
Denny was born June 7, 1939 in Bloomfield, Nebraska. In 1959, his family moved to Ames. He joined the Navy in 1958 and served for 2 years. He drove semi-trucks for Northwest Transport Service for many years, and continued driving until 2008 when he retired.
Denny is survived by his children; Greg (Brenda) Ellingson and daughter Denise (Steve) Young, grandchildren; Eric, Daniel, Kimberly, Austin, Tyler, and one great-granddaughter, Cora. He is also survived by brothers; Mike (Pat) Ellingson, Lindsay (Pat) Ellingson, Patrick Pantenburg, and one sister, Penny (Kenneth)"Jocko" Mindemann.
