Iry was one of the first coaches for females that loved basketball back in the early 1970s, as we didn't have a girls team at AHS until 1973. He was my first coach on the Monday night Ames Rec girls league. He was fun-loving, funny and so caring. I just read this, as we post our Mother's obit with Grandon. May he rest in peace and our condolences to his family.

Our heart felt sympathy to Irving's faily from the Class of 65, Ackley-Geneva High School. Irving was our educator and coach through High School and will be missed but not forgotten.

We lived right down the street from Irv. He was a really great guy to talk to and find out what was going on in the neighborhood. He was very proud to have coached Fred Hoiberg in Fred's youth. He was always telling me "Fred taught me everything I know . . . " Just in the last few years when he was walking around the block, we made sure the sidewalk was clear. If he found even just one acorn, he'd stop, shake his head just a little and use his cane it kick to the side. We REALLY enjoyed him, his passing is a great loss to us, our neighborhood, and to all those kids he coached.

Mr. Rosheim was a great coach, teacher and neighbor. I have no idea how much time he put into coaching but he made such a huge difference in the lives of so many people in Ames. As recently as a year ago, he was still remembering and talking to me about my baseball playing in his league more than 45 years ago. Even in my 50's he made me feel special. He was a truly great man.
