F. Blaine Jenkins, age 86, died in his home on June 15th, 2014. Blaine was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 27, 1928 to Amos and Edith Jenkins. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1952. Blaine served in the United States Army as a Staff /SGT in the Korean War in 1952 and 1953. He earned a Purple Heart, and also was awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant. Blaine spent over 40 years in the insurance industry first becoming an executive with The Travelers that led him to live in several cities including Oakland, California; Pocatello, Idaho; Wichita, Kansas; and Des Moines, Iowa. In 1969, Blaine then settled with his wife Carol in Ames where he was a partner/owner of McDowell's Insurance Agency for 25 years, retiring in 1994. Blaine was a 43 year member of the Ames Elks lodge. He was also a member of the Ames Rotary club, and a long time member of Ames Golf and Country Club serving on the Board of Directors. His passions were his golf game and he loved to go on many golf trips with friends, and he was an avid ISU athletics supporter during his 45 years in Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and wife, Carol.
He is survived by son, Michael (Sheri) Jenkins of Ames, daughter, Michelle of New Hampshire, four grandchildren; Ryan, Katherine, Megan all of Ames and Chance Taylor of New Hampshire, and sister, Eva Wilde of Concord California.
There is a visitation planned for this Friday, June 20th, from 1pm to 3pm at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames.
Last year he was able to go on The Freedom Flight to Washington D.C with other Vets from Story County. In lieu of flowers he wished that any donations be made to The Freedom Flight of Story County so other vets can have the experience that he enjoyed so much.

CandleTo the Families of Mike and Michelle Jenkins--So sorry to hear about your father. He and Neal were partners for a long time. I think you kids grew up with both my children and Neal's. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

CandleThis was one of the best agents I ever met, I worked for Traveler's and called on the McDowell's agency during 1971 to 1974, saw Mr Jenkins, Al Stoll and Sam Highbarger a lot. We even got to the golf course a few times. Blessings to the family.
