Elizabeth Tina Foster Stevenson was born in Wanda, MN on January 24, 1924. She died March 24, 2014 at the age of 90 in Ames, IA.
Beth was one of eight children born to Ernest and Elizabeth (Fox) Foster. The family moved from Minnesota to northern Iowa when she was four, and remained in the Laurens, IA area through high school.
Beth attended AIB in Des Moines and later moved to Grand Junction, IA where she met her husband Jim Stevenson. They farmed northeast of Grand Junction for 40 years.
After Jim's death in 1987 Beth moved to Ames, IA. She continued to create beautiful quilts, enjoyed playing bridge and hosting family gatherings until her health deteriorated.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one son Roger in 1955 and her husband Jim in 1987. She is survived by one sister, Ardys Hanisch of Laurens; three daughters, Barbara Holst and Cathy (Mark) Mather of Ames; Judy (Al) Frizzell of Johnston; three grandchildren, Andrea (Drew) Hernandez of Ames, Gina Frizzell (Joe Strable) of Des Moines and Jim Frizzell (Megan Petersen) of Johnston; three great-grandchildren, Reina and Rio Hernandez of Ames, and Matti Sue Strable of Des Moines; a special niece, Jane Foster Davis of Des Moines, extended family and friends.
Per Beth's wishes, there will be no services and her Cremains will be returned to Grand Junction for burial at a later date.
Never a family dinner passed without Beth mentioning "all the starving children in the world". With that in mind, the family requests any memorials you wish to make in Beth's name be made to your local food bank or similar charity of your choice.
Beth's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverside South for the excellent and loving care she received the last 16 months. And also special thanks to Toni and staff from Intrepid who gave their time and services to make the final months of Beth's life comfortable.

Girls, I remember the night my Auntie Beth tucked me in bed and I told her that her boyfriend was going to propose. He did not let me down and became my Uncle Jim. I will remember my Auntie Beth with much love.

Beth and Jim were a wonderful part of our community when they were here. The Gilley family thought they were very special. Jim spoke of them often with very special memories.
